America's Christmas is 'Made in China'
Boycott Made in China Campaign

(Your city name here) - The real effect of Christmas shopping in the USA, year after year, is the legitimizing of China's ruthless power and thuggish brutality. Ironically, Christmas shopping in the USA ends up oppressing Christians (and other religious groups) in China and Chinese-occupied Tibet. While so many in the world are observing various religious traditions, Catholic Bishops, Protestant pastors, Buddhist lamas, and Falun Gong practitioners in China are being jailed, tortured and even executed for their religious beliefs.

On December 20, 2003, the international BOYCOTT 'MADE IN CHINA' campaign will continue its long-term and coordinated efforts to urge consumers to end their economically unhealthy addictions to goods made in China. To generate support for this campaign, Tibetans, Chinese and supporters around the globe will gather in front of toy stores and shopping malls to perform colorful street theater and hand out information leaflets to shoppers. In (your city) on (date of boycott action), (describe the action).

Organizations working on the Boycott 'Made in China' campaign will use the holiday season to draw attention to the fact that Christmas lights, decorations, toys and other holiday presents are not only being manufactured by women and men working in sweatshop conditions in China with no rights to demand higher wages or form independent trade unions, but that sales of these items are taking away desperately needed jobs from American workers. Holiday shopping is also helping to finance China's brutal apparatus of control and repression in Tibet.

The Boycott 'Made in China' campaign plans to put the brakes on China's crimes through the power of the individual consumer. Boycott organizers believe the power of free, informed and responsible consumers will ultimately pressure the leaders in Beijing to allow the Tibetan nation and the Chinese people the freedom they have been long denied.
